Hey, my day unexpectedly filled up with errands....I'm on my way to City Hall to take care of a tax issue, and NOTHING at City Hall is a quick trip. I'll try calling you later.

Hi,
I had to check on that olive oil thing, according to most things I found, it's only the flavor that degrades when heated, the health benefits remain....

I bought grapeseed oil which can withstand heat up to 485 degrees. Believe it or not, at Mama Jean's, it's cheaper than olive oil from the grocery store. Steve used it tonight with terrific results.

So what does one cook with that is right? I use olive oil all the time. When I use coconut oil it smokes and tastes burnt if it gets too hot....

I can't tolerate a restrictive diet for very long. What works for me is to be very set in my ways with breakfast/lunch (oatmeal or cereal w/yogurt, 2 fruits, handful of nuts, couple pcs of cheese), then have a bit more fun for dinner. Also, convincing myself *not* to eat after 8pm helps too 'cause thats my snacking time.

Reading labels and avoiding foods with too many preservatives helps, no high fructose corn syrup, and chain restaurants are guilty because most of their menu items are half-prepped and preserved for quick cooking.

Hmmmm.... I wonder if there is anything that would make Pavel break... I think that this experiment would be much more fun. Try baking things and leaving them on his desk with the exclamation: "Well that's what I WOULD have eaten today and I had to take it SOMEWHERE!" I think that you should start with some cookies and progress to a sheet cake. (If he is going to put you through this, he deserves to squirm just a little bit.)
