When I arrive at work tomorrow, the store will be decorated for Christmas. I understand in most of the retail world, it’s time to gear up for Christmas, but I just started enjoying fall. Heck, the weather has hardly been cool enough to even feel like fall, and now I’m supposed to gear up for Christmas? Stop this ride, I want to get off.
I know we need to start pushing our customers to shop for Christmas, but I want to enjoy a little fall right now. I just got my mums out (and they’re already dying, poor things), I’ve barely had time to wear my boots from last year and I haven’t even had a day cold enough to get out wool sweaters.
I was at the mall on Sunday and noticed the music had already been changed to Christmas. Geez, give me time to ease into the season! I want another couple of weeks to enjoy fall and Thanksgiving! I want frost in the morning, pumpkins decorating my home and weekends free of obligations! I guess I want what everyone wants – time. However, reality tells me that I live in the present and the holidays are upon me. So, I’ll go with the flow, attempt to enjoy the Christmas decorations tomorrow when I arrive at work and prepare for the season. In the meantime, let’s not forget Thanksgiving and all we have to be thankful for.
