A friend wrote me about several inappropriate comments she overheard recently so I was thinking this week’s topic could revolve around that.
What’s the most inappropriate thing anyone has ever said to you or that you’ve overheard?
Mine involves people who ask me when I’m going to have children. When I tell them I’m not going to have them, they proceed to ask why. Tired of the discussion, I once told a woman we were unable to have them. She then asked which one of us was unable. Seriously!

I agree this has to rank pretty close to the top of annoying questions. Most people just really do not understand how rude it is – our culture has made it expected that everyone should aspire to the same standards (picket fence, 2.5 children, SUV, dog and a timeshare somewhere).
Since lemmings abound, they do not understand that there are a myriad of options for our lives, its just easer for them to go along with the main assumption. I’m now pondering how old have to get before people no longer feel compelled to ask that question.
Like when I went to Ukraine – everyone’s first question was if I was “bringing back a boy or a girl, or both!” No one asked about the politics, the poverty, the economy, Chernobyl…
